Embracing the Mysteries, Unveiling the Realities

5 Books You Must Read To Get Started in Entrepreneurship

TOP 5 Books for you to Start into 2017

During the last year, I have been asked several times which book I may recommend for anyone interested in business, entrepreneurship, and investing. I created a list for your new year’s resolution which will give you a kick start and a mentality shift for the new year. These books are perfect for people who are annoyed of going to a boring job from 9 to 5 and for everyone who wants to achieve financial freedom and a real purpose in life.

The list is not ordered by my personal rating but in the order, you should read them. Start by reading the first book, after that the second one and so forth. Below each book you will find a personal comment of mine and links to Amazon (The United States and Deutschland) and Goodreads. Enjoy reading!

1) Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

Book Cover Rich Dad Poor Dad

Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great book which will help you to think outside of the box. I read it first around 3 years ago and it changed my view onto personal finance and achieving success. Robert Kiyosaki’s Rich Dad Poor Dad is a great book which will give you a mindset shift. Most likely you were raised (like me) to become a worker. Our parents always say: “Go to school, get good grades, get a job, work till you are 65, then retire.”. This book will teach you how rich people think about it. It will definitely be a great first step towards your financial freedom.

2) The Millionaire Fastlane by M.J. DeMarco

Book Cover The Millionaire Fastlane

If you are just starting to think about entrepreneurship and you have not yet figured out how you will achieve success in business you absolutely need to read this book. I think this is the best book for beginners who have not yet figured out why the neighbor is driving a Lamborghini and you a Toyota. M.J. DeMarco will give you great insights in a very direct way. He is not a very eloquent writer so you will hear no blah-blah and no bullshit. I think this book is superior to Rich Dad Poor Dad in many ways. But I started reading “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and I continued with “The Millionaire Fastlane” and I would recommend this order to everyone. Rich Dad Poor Dad will not give you much information but it will give you a shift in thinking. Continue with “The Millionaire Fastlane” and it will blow your mind. M.J. DeMarco analyzed what made him a multi-millionaire and he is giving you a formula on how ‘everyone’ can become a millionaire. The most important lessons from “Rich Dad Poor Dad” and “The Millionaire Fastlane” are a change in perspective. If you are a beginner entrepreneur it will give you the much-needed kick in your ass and some pretty optimistic lessons.

I listened to the Audible version and I really enjoyed it as M.J. DeMarco is reading the book himself in a very awesome way.

3) Abundance by Peter H. Diamandis and Steven Kotler

Book Cover Abundance

Abundance is a completely different book. It is not about getting rich. It is not about financial freedom. The purpose of this great book is to show you which technologies currently exist and how to achieve very bold things. Diamandis says that if you are working very hard on a business anyways you can also work on making the world a better place. After reading this book you will not want to invent the next Facebook but you want to cure world hunger or fly to space. Diamandis and Kotler will give you a mind shift in how the future will look like. You will learn about great technologies and the possibilities to change the world. You should read this book before you read any other “how to get rich” books because it will teach you to think outside the box of creating an app, inventing the next Uber for dogs or whatever. It will show you with a rich collection of evidence how our world will change. Read this book and maybe your company will be the first one inhabiting the Jupiter? Think bold!

4) Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill

Book Cover Think And Grow Rich

Every successful person I personally talked to recommended me this book. And after reading it at least three times I think that this is one of the most important books you must read in your life! It has been published in 1937 thus it is already a pretty old book but the lessons you learn about life are priceless and still highly relevant to our life in 2017. This book is not about making money it is about setting yourself a personal vision or a desired outcome. This book is the result of interviewing hundreds of successful businessmen and hundreds of failed businessmen.

REMARK: This mark expresses some topics in a very controversial manner (e.g. about homosexuality) please remember that his book was written in 1938.

5) No Excuses! The Power Of Self-Discipline by Brian Tracy

Book Cover No Excuses

“No Excuses!” is a very good book not because Brian Tracy is coming up with new ways of avoiding procrastination but because he is summarizing the wisdom of many successful people. This book compromises many books into a single one. “No Excuses!” is full of knowledge and practical advice how you will achieve a happier and more successful life. I have read more than 50 books about self-development and if you’d ask me which single book I would recommend that helps you to become successful in life it would be this one. It is full of advice on relationships, career, finance, health, courage, happiness, time-management, and peace of mind. You may like or dislike Brian Tracy but this book is one of the best self-improvement books out there. Read it, apply it, and you will become a more content person.

BONUS: The Five Love Languages

Book Cover The 5 Love Languages

Falling in love is easy, staying in love is the challenge. I have always been interested in why some couples are enjoying happy relationships which are lasting a lifetime and why other relationships are marked with non-stop arguments and end in a break-up or even a divorce. After finishing this book I would recommend this book to everyone. I don’t care if you are single, in a relationship, married or whatever. This book will strengthen your relationship, save your relationship from a ruin, or it will make your next relationship work. Gary Chapman is obviously a very religious guy but a few bible quotes did not annoy me at all. I recommend this book to everyone independent of any religion. Read it if you are nullifidian, a Christian, a Muslim, a Buddhist, or whatever. It will certainly improve every relationship – not only love relationships – from the day you will start reading it.

Note: There is also a book version for Singles out there. The content is the same the author simply adjusted his examples. And by the way, just have a look at the Amazon ratings.
