Recent weeks have been a struggle for my sleeping rhythm. Not that long ago I was of the opinion that you have to sleep less to get more done. Please note that the whole text only applies to students and educations systems where the education is completely free; in this example Germany.
Germany is a country where students enjoy free education. It is true, public education in Germany is completely free. There is a small fee of around 300€ per semester for students but this fee allows them to use public transport for free. According to Eurostat (educ_uoe_fine09) Germany is spending each year around 15.000€ per student on education. If students study on average four years, it costs the state on average 60.000€ per student. This is a great gift from the state which should not come without any commitments.

So I forgot about calling these numbers back.

Since the last Wikileaks leak about the CIA, I talked to a handful of people about privacy. Shockingly this is the recap of most responses: “I don’t care if the CIA or NSA is spying on me, I have nothing to hide”. Just because you don’t have anything to hide doesn’t make privacy less important. Here is why you should care about your privacy.

In this blog post, I would like to point out my own opinion on why I think that our current education system is pushing many students into one specific direction.

During the last 7 weeks, I was freelancing as an Oculus Rift brand ambassador. That’s a pretty cool title, isn’t it? Well, the title brand ambassador is pretty American. What I actually did was giving product demonstrations to interested customers.

As I opened the Messenger app today I saw a friendly face of a friend in a rectangle on top of all messages. I clicked on it and it was another Snapchat cloned feature. The same “story” feature we already know from Snapchat, Instagram, and most recently WhatsApp.

Have you ever watched a TED talk? While it is unlikely that you saw one in person (I didn’t please invite me to one) it is very likely that you saw one online. TED is a non-profit organization which is organizing talks all around the world. They organize their events and talks under the motto “ideas worth spreading”.

Just a few weeks ago I decided to make a Monday morning run my new routine. Every Monday I will wake up, get into my running clothes, drink one liter of water and a small oat-drink and start running.
